Es stammt wohl aus der Siegelsammlung, von der es heisst:
“Collecting passion is evident in the vast collection of several hundreds of royal and noble sealing wax impressions dating through the centuries. The group also includes steel seals, engraved matrixes, signet rings bezels of rock crystal, carnelian and other stones and carved with different armorial devices, and various autograph manuscripts of documentary importance.”
Diese ist als Lot 281 ausgewiesen:
comprising the efforts of several different, subsequent collectors, typically applied to rectangular shaped boards, grouped by kinship of secular and religious rulers, a large quantity of wax seal impressions retaining wooden boxes and strip of parchment having being detached from the corresponding documents, a very large quantity of red wax seal impressions, most applied to strong paper and usually identified, also including a group of steel seals, lead papal seals, a small group of signet ring bezels carved with different armorial devices, of rock crystal, carnelian and other stones, and a small group of autograph manuscripts and documents of various dates; together with a custom built box composed of six hinged trays veneered in figured walnut, in distressed condition, altogether contained in several boxes
