“Once again the global archival community is poised to celebrate International Archives Day on 9 June, the date on which ICA was founded in 1948 and chosen by our AGM in 2007. What part do you intend to play?
Exhibitions, conferences, lively events in archive institutions, publications, or simply spreading news of the event by word of mouth – all of these are options. The International Council on Archives supports all initiatives proposed for the promotion of archives and the profession on 9 June.
Our website is at your disposal to publicize your initiatives, to publish your photos and reports, and perhaps also to find ideas for bigger events. For example, why not take advantage of International Archives Day in order to get members of the public to sign the Universal Declaration on Archives, as our colleagues in Québec have done? Alternatively, you could raise questions about archives that you have never dared to ask before, as the initiative # askarchivists on Twitter proposes?
Please find your own way of showing that you are proud to be an archivist on 9 June!
If you want to tweet an event or an initiative related to the IAD, use the hashtag #archivesday2011.”
Question: #askanarchist – supported by the German VdA?
